Sharp UK is delighted to announce its partnership with Sky Blues in the Community, the incredible official charity arm of Coventry City Football Club that delivers Sport, Health, Inclusion, and Education-related activities to the people of Coventry and Warwickshire.
Using professional football as a platform to attract and engage the community, the charity caters to all ages and abilities by providing fun, safe and enjoyable environments for physical activity.
David Busst, Head of Community at Sky Blues said: “We see it as our responsibility to utilise our position for the benefit of the community and have a truly positive impact on our local area. We’re pleased to have Sharp’s support and hope that together we can succeed in changing the lives of people who deserve it most.”
Through its activities in 2019-2020, the charity worked with more than 13,000 participants to deliver 33 projects and invest £1.1 million into the local community.
Sharp has been providing the charity with valuable support for a number of years as part of a large number of ongoing CSR initiatives. This includes a company-wide volunteer day initiative, where employees are encouraged and sponsored by Sharp to use a working day to give time to a charity like Sky Blues.
Danny Walden, Sales Director at Sharp and advocate for the charity commented: “We have been supporting the admirable work of Sky Blues in the Community for over 5 years, and I’m so proud that we can continue to do so as Sharp. We applaud their incredible work, and as a business we aspire to raise further awareness of their excellent cause and inspirational programmes.”
In addition to the commendable charity work, Sky Blues in the Community runs two funded initiatives for schools across Coventry and Warwickshire, to inspire healthy living and develop sport within schools.
Premier League Primary Stars is a 12-week programme focusing on enhancing physical education provision through delivery of lessons and teacher CPD. Joy of Moving is a national 6-week project for year 5 pupils, aimed at engaging children in the importance of exercise and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle and improving physical literacy.
