Sharp Empowers Staff to Help those in Need

Sharp Business Systems UK (SBSUK) is thrilled to announce that it has brought forward the launch of its Employee Volunteering Programme (EVP) as part of its response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The EVP initiative provides Sharp’s employees with 350 paid volunteering days every year (from which they can apply for up to three) and use them to give back to their local communities or support the national effort to beat Coronavirus.

The programme comes at a time when charities, not-for-profit organisations,  and the National Health Service all need extra support to remain operational  and provide essential services to those most in need.

Head of Marketing Communications at SBSUK, Adrienne Topping said:  “It’s really moving and encouraging to see the way that the whole nation has united to help those most in need. Even before our EVP was officially live, we had been inundated with requests from employees wanting to get involved with the government’s scheme to support the NHS. This prompted us to bring forward  our launch, which was originally scheduled for the end of this year.

“The response has been fantastic; it makes you proud knowing you work with such a great bunch of people. So far, we’ve seen people volunteering for local food banks and community centres, supporting the Samaritan’s helpline, as well as helping create much needed PPE and delivering medicines for the NHS.

“Whether the days are used to help the elderly with their shopping, volunteering for a local charity or community project, if we can, then we should give back in some way, and so we’re pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to our staff.”

The EVP initiative is part of a wider internal #ComeBackBetter campaign, which encourages staff to better themselves during lockdown by focussing on self-care, personal development, or simply taking more time to spend with their loved ones.
