Eighteen members of staff at Sharp Business Systems (UK) PLC’s (SBSUK) Swanley office have raised £115 to support Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.
Taking place on Friday 15th March this year, the fun initiative saw staff make a small donation and come to work dressed in their pyjamas, onesies and slippers. Many of them baked a range of flapjacks, brownies, cupcakes, and extravagant Victoria sponges decorated with glacier cherry ‘red noses’. Staff not brave enough to bake also contributed with delicious shop bought treats, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.
Red Nose Day this year has so far raised an astonishing £63,548,688, and consisted of lots real-life stories of hope. The TV show also included comedy spoofs of ‘The Bodyguard’ and ‘Four Weddings’, and many famous faces supported the cause.
Simone Edwards, Customer Support and Project Co-Ordinator at SBSUK said: “This was such a fantastic day, everyone was in really good spirits. It’s fun to be silly sometimes and everyone felt very silly sitting at their desks in their pyjamas and slippers! All that aside, the best thing about it was that it was for a good cause. Comic Relief is a global charity, but they can only help those most in need with our support.”
Since its founding in 1985, Comic Relief has provided £1 billion in funding to organisations that support vulnerable people in the UK and overseas. The charity also champions the protection of children and young people from exploitation and abuse, fights for gender equality, funds safe and secure shelter, and therapeutic mental health services.
Sharp’s next exciting fundraiser will be a bike ride and bake sale for the Prince of Wales Hospice, an organisation that provides support to people with life threatening or life limiting illnesses and their families.
