Amidst ever-tightening school budgets and cuts, SBSUK’s donation will add to the school’s existing screen, which can work together to function as a larger, more impressive and impactful ‘video wall’.
The donation came after Peter Nolan, Computing & IT Coordinator at Queen Margaret Primary successfully raised £700 from the local community.
Peter tells the story: “Senior teaching staff came to the conclusion many months ago that we really needed to bring our school up-to-date in terms of technology and teaching children using technology.
“Because of the generosity of the people of Tewkesbury and surrounding parishes we managed to raise enough money to purchase two screens at a discounted price from a reseller.”
When Peter turned them on however, he noticed a large impact crack at the top right-hand corner of one of the screens that stretched across the top of the device.
Peter continues: “The reseller we purchased it from was obviously very apologetic andbut could not offer a replacement because it was discounted. They offered instead a full refund, offered a full refund, but however there was no way of knowing if it happened in transit or once it arrived, so we refused. At that point I sent a letter to the Director of Sharp UK, Stuart Sykes, and explained our situation.”
Upon receiving the letter Stuart organised for a brand new PN-V601 Professional Display Screen to be sent to Queen Margaret Primary to replace the damaged device.
Peter adds: “I really cannot thank Stuart and Sharp enough. What we now have are two immaculate display screens that work together in our main hall. They’re so striking, we can show videos and presentations during school productions and assemblies, and both students and external visitors really engage with the content we show.”
Steve Gilligan, SBSUK’s Regional Service Manager for the Southwest organised the delivery on behalf of Stuart, he concludes: “At Sharp we’ve always believed that corporate and social responsibility is a major pillar for business, it’s a crucial part of our marketing strategy, so of course we jumped at the opportunity, and besides, it was Christmas!”
