Hive Interactive Whiteboard Application
The Hive Interactive whiteboard allows you to use ‘digital ink’ with different coloured pens, shapes and page backgrounds. Responsive handwriting and shape recognition turns your sketches into digital text, making annotations and graphics easy-to-read. Choose from different colour backgrounds, annotate onto any file type - even imported video content!
Pre-installed Hive mini-apps such as: Timer, Spotlight, Screenshot, Split Screen, and Visualiser can be used to create an engaging and innovative lesson, helping keep students’ attention.
Open all your education files Hive software can open SMART and Promethean files with all layering and animation intact. For teachers who have invaluable legacy resources they want to continue using when moving to interactive display technology, Hive offers freedom from subscription fees. Schools no longer need to pay annual fees to continue accessing these file types, freeing IT departments from complicated and expensive licensing agreements. Support for popular file formats (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and Images) is also included.
Hive also allows educators to use search terms to find resources published by colleagues on SMART Exchange and ClassFlow, returning results in media rich content. Images, videos and audio files created by fellow educators can be drag and dropped onto the Hive page for you to edit – perfect for editing for your own lesson plans or for use as they are.
In addition to SMART and Promethean, with Hive Software you can access web, video, images, PDF and Open Microsoft 365 documents. Simply drag and drop the files from your local PC or Mac, Google Drive, Dropbox or One Drive directly onto the page.
Hive is the only app that allows you to mix all these resources into a single document, so there is no need to switch software apps or documents - making it simpler for educators to plan for different types of learners.
Collaboration at your fingertips Once you have Hive open it’s quick and easy to start a collaborative session, using Hive Nexus Collaboration. Students can use their own tablets or laptops to connect to the screen, increasing interactivity. They will instantly be able to see the front-of-class screen mirrored on their device. When required, they can even share their content on the front-of-class screen from their tablet or laptop for everyone to see. Hive can create a collaboration space for up to 40 users!
At the end of your lesson, you can send out polls, assessments and feedback. Students can use their devices to participate and results can be shared on the interactive screen.
Engaging lessons According to a study conducted by Microsoft, the average post-mobile revolution human attention span is around 8 seconds – one whole second less than goldfish. So ensuring lessons are engaging is more important now than ever before.
Whilst understanding that educators still need to be able to deliver functional lessons, Hive plays to their strengths and allows educators to emphasise important information using useful interactive mini apps.
