Sharp Develops 200 MW Photovoltaic Project Pipeline in Germany

Sharp Energy Solutions Europe is pleased to announce the development of an extensive photovoltaic project pipeline in Germany. With a planned total capacity of 200 megawatts (MW), Sharp Energy Solutions Europe is setting a significant milestone in sustainable energy supply and underscoring its position as a leading player in the solar energy sector.

This announcement ties in with Sharp’s celebration of the 30th anniversary of its presence in the European solar market. For 65 years now, Sharp has been developing and manufacturing solar cells and PV modules, establishing itself as a pioneer in renewable energy. Sharp's extensive experience and adaptation to the dynamic solar market have made it a resilient and influential player and the company with the longest history of success in the solar industry.

The 200 MW project pipeline includes a range of PV projects at various stages of planning, including preparation for local council decisions, public disclosure, or zoning plan preparation in the respective municipalities. These projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with a substantial capacity of Sharp solar modules to be provided for these PV projects, achieving “Ready to Build” (RTB) status.

Sharp offers flexible cooperation solutions for project business. In addition to high-performance modules, Sharp brings experience in the photovoltaic project business, particularly in technical planning, as well as extensive expertise in the development of ground-mounted and C&I rooftop PV systems. Sharp can undertake the realisation of projects and has an extensive network of partners and investors for the sale of turnkey projects. For projects not covered by the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), Sharp offers access to power purchasers (PPA contracts). Through collaboration, Sharp partners can benefit from the advantages Sharp brings as a module supplier in partnerships, including direct access to production capacities and financial participation, to name just a few.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Responsibility

Sharp Energy Solutions Europe places great emphasis on ethical business practices and adherence to the highest standards in the areas of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Sharp's supply chains are closely monitored to ensure that all partners and suppliers meet the highest ethical and sustainable standards. This includes responsible sourcing of raw materials and compliance with labour and human rights standards. Moreover, Sharp ensures that the development and implementation of PV projects adhere to the highest environmental and social standards. Sharp is committed to designing projects that are not only environmentally sustainable but also socially responsible.

Future Prospects and Potential

The realisation of the 200 MW project pipeline will contribute to Germany's energy transition. Furthermore, by implementing these projects, Sharp Energy Solutions Europe will strengthen its position in the German solar energy market. The projects not only offer ecological benefits but also provide long-term economic advantages for all stakeholders.

Frank Geerken, Head of the Project Development Team at Sharp Energy Solutions Europe, commented: “The development of this project pipeline is a significant step forward for our activities in Germany. We are proud to support landowners and municipalities in the implementation of renewable energy projects and to shape the energy transition together.”
